Woollard’s take: Do not sleep on the Jags – Part 3

After Week 9, I have the Jaguars on a steady footing at 5-3.

With the bye week behind us and the season ramping up, let us look at the next four games on the Jacksonville schedule.

Week 10: Houston Texans @ NRG Stadium

For the first matchup, I went with a Jacksonville home win. It may be surprising but I have us down to complete the double over Houston.

I may well be underestimating the strength of the Texans this year, especially in the offensive locker room.

Having said that, I think the Jaguars offense under Liam Coen’s leadership has been moulded to be even greater. This win could put the AFC South on notice.

Prediction: Win

Week 11: Los Angeles Chargers @ EverBank Stadium

Who remembers the 2023 Wild Card game? If not, it is remembered in Duval County as the biggest and greatest comeback in NFL history. If you are a Chargers fan, it is known as the biggest collapse. However you remember it, it was certainly unforgettable.

Especially with the imperious home record I think we will have, I have the Jags to win this matchup, especially with rookies becoming more consistent as the season progresses.

I acknowledge that this could go either way. But taking into account the fixtures that the Chargers play before the Jags, I think this could swing the game heavily in our favour.

Prediction: Win

Week 12: Arizona Cardinals @ State Farm Stadium

Much like the Jags, the Cardinals in an early-stage rebuild of their own and it has not been without setbacks. However, Jacksonville have not had a good run of form against the Cardinals, losing the last four.

The Jags have undertaken a major overhaul this offseason, with a feisty and resilient nature ingrained into the team from Day 1.

I think that this could be the year, although by a small margin, that Jacksonville overcome this unfortunate streak and establish a new order in Arizona.

Prediction: Win

Week 13: Tennessee Titans @ Nissan Stadium

I would love Cam Ward to do well this season. My collection of his NFL cards would be a nice investment if he took the league by storm as the number 1 overall pick. However, in this particular matchup, I would like him to have a subdued game.

Self-interest aside, typically, it takes the best part of a season to get to grips with how the NFL differs to college football. I think Cam Ward will still be finding his feet, leading me to predict a comfortable win for the Jags in their first clash with the Titans this season.

Prediction: Win
