Welcome to the regular season, Chicago Bears fans!
This week, I intended to provide a guide to the rookie class of 2025 and also inform you of their favourite pizza toppings.
Unfortunately, my half-hearted attempt to connect with the players via X fell on deaf ears.
So, here is your guide to the Bears rookie class, with the following information – Round (Position) drafted; Name (Position); College (Number of X followers).
1 (10) Colston Loveland (TE) Michigan (No account)
‘Topping’ the list, Loveland is the marquee name in the 2025 Chicago Bears draft.
He could end up being used as more of a wide receiver than a blocking tight end, similar to other big yardage tight ends who have shone in the NFL the last few years.
I expect Loveland will be used as the primary player in his position, with some reps from Cole Kmet initially mixed in. I could not locate an X account for Loveland, so I guess he must be more of an Insta guy.
2 (39) Luther Burden III (WR) Missouri (413)
Burden gets big yards after-the-catch numbers, and he should be used as a first teamer right from the off, despite his final college season being disrupted by injury.
I expect Burden to be used initially as a WR3 with a handful of targets per game.
With only a small number of X followers, it appears he has never used his account. Either that, or he had to delete a load of dodgy posts.
2 (56) Ozzy Trapilo (T) Boston College (2,497)
A great pass protector and rarely overpowered. Trapilo’s X account does not seem to have been touched for two years.
The Chicago Bears do, however, follow him. Perhaps part of the mass anti-Elon exodus. He will start Bears life as a back-up behind Braxton Jones.
2 (62) Shemar Turner (DT) Texas A&M (7,197)
Truner is highly effective against the run and very experienced, with a ‘mean streak’. He was quoted as saying that he wants to take his opponents’ lunch money.
His X account has been inactive since April. Perhaps he is worried about using social media in the pros.
He was injured for a large portion of the offseason, but is expected to play a rotational role in the opening game.
4 (132) Ruben Hyppolite (LB) Maryland (104)
Hyppolite can make plays all over the field.
Not invited to the NFL Combine or the Senior Bowl, he has surprised in camp and could start as strong side linebacker in Week 1 due to an injury to TJ Edwards.
5 (159) Zah Frazier (CB) Texas San Antonio (6,052)
Frazier is a long defender who uses his arms effectively and defends the deep ball well.
His X account is active! Alas, Frazier is out for the season for personal reasons.
6 (195) Luke Newman (G) Michigan State (2,210)
A lot of experience on a mediocre offensive line at college.
Has a photo of Lemmy in his X bio. Second teamer.
7 (233) Kyle Monangai (RB) Rutgers (4,150)
Team leader who never fumbled the ball at Rutgers. Cuts well and tough to tackle. There has perhaps been the most amount of hype surrounding Monangai of all the rookies on the team.
The seventh round pick is listed third on the depth chart, but most critics see him as the most likely player to step in as RB1 if D’Andre Swift goes down. Ben Johnson has stated that he trusts the rookie and that he does “everything right”.
Enjoy the season, Bears fans!
Further research has led me to discover that Colston Loveland has 135k followers on Instagram.
I am now heading to Insta to create an account like all the cool kids – and the Bears rookies.
