Tick, tock.
The 2025 NFL Draft begins in a few hours. Teams will have 10 minutes on the clock to make a selection on night one. However, the Cleveland Browns clock has already started.
Despite picking second overall, the Browns are already on the clock by virtue of the Tennessee Titans declaring their intentions to draft quarterback Cam Ward.
We know who the Titans are taking first overall, so heads have now turned to what the Browns will do with the second pick in the draft.
A good dilemma
The Browns have had their fair share of bad luck when it comes to the draft over the years.
The team has needed a quarterback since reactivation in 1999. Yet every time the Browns have a top pick, there is not a Joe Burrow waiting for them in the draft, and 2025 is no different.
However, the Browns do find themselves in a position where they will have the pick of the two best players in the draft with the second pick.
With all the bad luck over the years, this feels like a good dilemma to have.
So, Abdul Carter or Travis Hunter?
Abdul Carter and Travis Hunter highlight this year’s draft class. Two generational athletes at positions the Browns value highly.
The prospect of drafting either player should bring a lot of excitement to Browns fans. Not only are they both incredible players, but they also provide a box office element that is much needed in Cleveland.
Abdul Carter would provide the Browns with a legitimate running mate for Myles Garrett that would strike fear into the eyes of every opposition quarterback, offensive line and Offensive Coordinator.
Drafting Carter would instantly catapult the Browns defensive line to one of the best in the NFL.
Travis Hunter is two-way star that played both wide receiver and cornerback at a level we have never seen in college or the pros. He is a legitimate first round talent at both positions and would provide a rare blend of athleticism and talent at both positions.
While the Browns can’t go wrong with either player, it’s still a difficult decision to make.
Calling my shot
The Browns will draft Travis Hunter second overall.
It would take a godfather offer to move the Browns off of this pick.
The team is in love with the player. General Manager Andrew Berry spent over two minutes salivating over Hunter. They are not even trying to hide it at this point.
With the Titans taking Cam Ward first overall, it is almost a certainty the Browns will take Hunter with the second pick.
We will find out on Thursday night, but as for now the Cleveland Browns are on the clock.
