Reviewing the Miami Dolphins 2025 NFL Draft

It’s time to grade the 2025 Draft class and see what they might bring to the team going into the new season.

After some time to reflect on the last few days, this is my review of the Miami Dolphins 2025 Draft picks…

Kenneth Grant, Defensive tackle, Michigan – Round 1, Pick 13

A formidable presence at 6’4″ and 331 pounds, Grant was a standout at Michigan, earning All-American honors in 2024. His selection aims to bolster Miami’s interior defensive line, a key part of the defence. However, this can be viewed as a slight reach, hence the lower grade on a first-round pick.

Grade: B

Jonah Savaiinaea, Guard, Arizona – Round 2, Pick 37

Savaiinaea brings versatility and physicality to the offensive line, addressing a pressing need. His addition is expected to enhance protection for quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and improve the run game.

Grade: B+

Players selected in the later rounds for potential development

Jordan Phillips, Defensive tackle, Maryland – Round 5, Pick 143

Phillips adds depth to the defensive tackle rotation. While not projected as an immediate starter, his collegiate experience at Maryland provides a foundation for development and this could end up as a real steal.

Grade: C+

Jason Marshall Jr., Cornerback, Florida – Round 5, Pick 150

Marshall offers potential as a developmental cornerback. Given Miami’s needs in the secondary, his selection in the fifth round provides depth, though expectations should be tempered.

Grade: C

Dante Trader Jr., Safety, Maryland – Round 5, Pick 155

Trader adds depth to the safety position. While not a headline pick, his collegiate performance suggests potential to contribute on special teams and in sub-packages.

Grade: C+

Ollie Gordon II, Running back, Oklahoma State – Round 6, Pick 179

Gordon, the 2023 Doak Walker Award winner, brings a proven track record of production. His downhill running style complements Miami’s existing backfield. If, as rumours suggest, Devon Achane will play more wide receiver this season, there is a very good chance Gordon makes the team.

Grade: B-

Quinn Ewers, Quarterback, Texas – Round 7, Pick 231

Ewers, once a highly touted prospect, experienced a draft-day slide. His selection provides Miami with a developmental quarterback option behind Tagovailoa and Zach Wilson. If he is over the oblique injury, he greatly improves the No.3 quarterback position from last season.

Grade: B-

Zeek Biggers, Defensive tackle, Georgia Tech – Round 7, Pick 253

Biggers adds size and depth to the defensive line. His collegiate experience at Georgia Tech offers potential for rotational contributions.

Grade: C
