Positional needs the priority for Texans at 2025 NFL Draft

Happy draft day!

Today marks the start of the 2025 NFL Draft, and every fan of every team wonders who their side will actually select.

The main factor that always comes to the forefront is that of team need. The Houston Texans are no different, and they require serious help at offensive line and wide receiver.

The Texans currently hold pick 25 in the year 2025. Now, if you are at all spiritual then 25:25 in angel numbers means to make positive changes and to let go of things that no longer serve you.

That Texans go into this draft with a similar strategy. By letting go of Pro Bowl tackle Laremy Tunsil – who we felt no longer served us – in a trade deal to the Washington Commanders, the Texans received a slew of picks which they can turn into a huge positive.

Rumours are circulating that Texans general manager Nick Caserio may use that pick haul to trade up and bolster the offensive line.

That way, the franchise could take aim at some of the mouth watering prospect expected to go early. These include Will Campbell from LSU, Armand Membou out of Missouri and Kelvin Banks from the Texas Longhorns. These three men would all make C.J. Stroud very happy.

But what cost would it have on future draft capital? Over the years the Texans have not been know for their aggressive draft day trading. Other than the Will Anderson Jr. move a couple years ago, we usually play it safe.

If we were to play safe, I can see us holding out and if available picking up OL Tyler Booker from Alabama, who again is a very serviceable prospect. If you read HuddleUK’s ‘Draft Jargon’ story, you would say he is plug and play.

Give Stroud another weapon

I can only see the Texans taking aim at an offensive lineman player in the first round, but after that the focus should remain on offense.

Wide receiver is another point of interest. Stefon Diggs has moved on after his short stint and Tank Dell is likely to miss the season. That leaves Nico Collins as the one point of interest.

A name that has been heavily linked to the Texans is Ohio State Buckeye Emeka Egbuka. An elite route runner who can make a catch out of anything with strong hands, he emulates everything the Texans already have in Collins.

I’m positive Egbuka would also bring a smile to fellow Buckeye Stroud.

As I mentioned though, this particular draft will be one of need for Houston, but let’s see where the dice fall. This has the potential to be another wild few nights for the Texans, and in Nick Caserio and DeMeco Ryans we trust.
