The receiver is ready to shine in his sophomore season.

This offseason, it is fair to say the Arizona Cardinals have beefed up their defense.

They have added Josh Sweat, Calais Campbell and Dalvin Tomlinson to name but a few.

But it looks like their star wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. has also beefed up. He has spent his offseason in the gym, if the recent pictures of him are anything to go by.

Harrison Jr. has bulked up so much that quarterback Kyler Murray thought the photos were fakes made using AI.

The story so far

While at college with the Ohio State Buckeyes, he surpassed 1,200 receiving yards in 2022 and 2023. Those elite stats saw him finish fourth in the 2023 Heisman Trophy voting.

Franchises across the NFL sat up and took note of an up-and-coming star. Harrison Jr. landed in the desert last year after being drafted fourth overall by Arizona.

His home debut against the Los Angeles Rams brought 130 receiving yards from just four receptions. He also bagged two touchdowns that would not look out of place in any Hall of Famer’s highlight reel.

He finished his rookie NFL season with 885 yards and eight touchdowns.

Maserati Marv set to kick into gear in 2025

At college, Harrison Jr. earned the nickname “Maserati Marv”, due to his speed and ability to make plays.

He fell short of the 1,000-yard mark last season and he will undoubtedly want to add more touchdowns to his game. However, the rookie-season numbers he did post were better than those of his dad, Marvin Harrison Sr, managed with the Indianapolis Colts.

Star wide receivers such as Larry Fitzgerald, Tyreek Hill, Davante Adams and the one and only Calvin Johnson recorded fewer receiving yards as rookies than the Cardinals’ number-one wideout managed last year.

All of those players went on to have hugely successful careers in the NFL.

If Harrison Jr can end up emulating any of them, then he will be a massive success in Glendale, Arizona.
