Saddle up your Colts – it is time to stack.
That is more like it!
How did we do last week?
As suspected by many, the Bears mauled the Cowboys and it got pretty grizzly for Dak and the Dallas defense.
If you popped Caleb Williams in your lineup at £6,600, you were not disappointed as he returned QB1 on the weekend with 29.1pts.
Who knew that Luther Burden (19.7pts) would be the WR to stack him with though?
And the cheap comeback with Jake Ferguson mopping up the receptions as Dallas chased the game? That hit for us too – as he finished as TE2 with 21.2pts. What a bargain at £2,600!
The stars were indeed the running backs though as Jonathan Taylor carried everyone’s lineups to victory (both the Colts and ours). He finished RB1 for the week for 32.8pts.
Steal of the week, however, goes to Jordan Mason (RB5, 23.6pts, £3,800), who Phil committed to on last week’s podcast before reviewing Tom Brady’s Power Rankings. Great shout Phil! First Bhayshul Tuten and now Jordan Mason. You are quite the mystic.
Rome Odunze did not hit the heights as captain but he started positively with an early TD reception.
Rhamondre Stevenson laid a massive stinker right in the middle of my lineup. If only he did not fumble through the end zone, imagine what could have been!
As our sample size of games grows, prices change and defenses tighten up, we are going to find gems harder to come by.
Looking ahead
Week 4 is also a challenge. We only have 11 games on the Sunday Stars slate. That is due to the game in Dublin between the Minnesota Vikings and Pittsburgh Steelers and a Monday Night Football double-header.
So do not be alarmed if this week seems thin on the ground for options.
Before we get to it, hit play on this week’s podcast, where Phil hosts Jack Humphrey to discuss Daily Fantasy. He provides a lot of great advice and insight to help you reach the heights with your lineups this week.
Quarterbacks
Run it back champ – Run. It. Back.
We want a piece of Caleb Williams (£7,600) this week as he visits the very mundane Las Vegas Raiders defense. The Chicago Bears cannot run the ball at the moment and as a result, Caleb will need to continue throwing it.
Is it Danny Dimes or Danny Diamonds now? I am not sure. Phil did not want to call him a starting quarterback in DFS on this week’s podcast – but I will!
Daniel Jones (£7,200) has an opportunity to put up big points this week. He travels to SoFi Stadium to play the Los Angeles Rams – the same team that just saw Jalen Hurts successfully throw three touchdowns when he did little else through the air through Week 1 or 2. Jones also presents a possible comeback stack later in this section so stay tuned.
Marcus Mariota (£4,200) – we got news on Friday that Jayden Daniels is being held out of Week 4, so the offense is being run by Mariota again. He had a steady 20.28pts in Week 3.
My one word of warning is that Terry McLaurin is out in Week 4 as well, so Mariota will be without his No.1 wide receiver. That is never ideal but we know Mariota has rushing upside (six attempts for 40 yards and a touchdown in Week 3).
I will refrain from making an awful pun but Jaxson Dart (£4,200) makes his debut for the New York Giants and has incredible ‘surprise’ value.
I do not have high expectations, since he faces a stout Chargers defense. At such a cheap price, however, he is worth… damn it… a potential dart throw.
Sorry. Not Sorry.
Running backs
Premium running backs have some spicy opposition this week. The opposite is true for James Cook, but at £8,600, I do not fancy that offering enough opportunity for him to return value.
Here me out here but how about Bucky Irving (£7,200) at home against the Philadelphia Eagles? He has quietly gone about his business behind a crumbling offensive line. He has never scored fewer than 13 fantasy points in a week and with only one touchdown to his name.
Well, Tristan Wirfs is back in Week 4, which means Graham Barton gets to return to the interior of the offensive line. Chris Godwin is also back for the Buccaneers – a fantastic blocker in his own right at the position. This is not the same Eagles defense from years passed. Fletcher Cox and Brandon Graham are gone. Nolan Smith is injured.
The weather in Tampa Bay on Sunday is set to be a humid 89F (32C). I do not think Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter will fancy playing so many snaps in this game and I think that opens up opportunity for Bucky.
Other options
Omarion Hampton (£5,800) was discussed on this week’s Huddle UK podcast so Phil and Jack will be glad to see his name here.
He faces a Giants team allowing the 29th most fantasy points to running backs. I do not think that needs any further explanation.
Until he is priced higher, Quinshon Judkins (£4,800) continues to present as a good value option. He just posted 16.5 fantasy points on a vaunted Packers defense so I do not fear anyone for Judkins at this price point.
Wide receivers
The highest-scoring matchup on Sunday is slated as the Indianapolis Colts @ Los Angeles Rams with the money line set at 49.5 points scored.
With the Rams set as 3.5-point favourites, the Vegas bookies fancy this game to end somewhere close to 26-23 to the hosts.
Davante Adams has been questionable all week but is set to feature according to head coach Sean McVay.
I am dialling up Puka Nacua (£8,000) here. He is the most expensive receiver on the app but is yet to score fewer than 22pts this year.
Puka has 35 targets and now faces a Colts defense that has been very good, but is now missing star slot cornerback Kenny Moore. He would have been the shadow of Nacua so I fancy a big Puka Nacua week.
Do not go anywhere – we are staying in LA for this comeback stack.
Technically, Puka is the comeback but he deserves the headline. Class is permanent kids.
Michael Pittman (£5,000) is far too cheap for someone who has scored 19+ fantasy points twice already this year. Colts receiver Alec Pierce is out due to a concussion so I expect more targets to go towards Pittman.
In Week 3, the Eagles’ A.J. Brown roasted Rams cornerback Emmanuel Forbes so I am hoping for the same this week courtesy of Pittman.
Need some cheaper options?
Chris Olave (£4,200) has been absorbing the targets from Spencer Rattler for the Saints. He will be playing from behind a lot against the Bills, so I am expecting PPR returns.
Darnell Mooney (£3,400) is back for the Falcons and immediately drew 11 targets. It is unlikely the Falcons play from behind so much in Week 4 but the matchup against the Commanders is not scaring anyone.
And how about Luke McCaffrey (£2,200) ? Yes, you read that right. The younger McCaffrey brother is set to see an increased role for the Commanders with the aforementioned Terry McLaurin missing this game. Just do not expect Christian-sized returns, folks.
Tight ends
Hunter Henry (£3,400) is not cheap but he has massive upside, which he demonstrated last week.
Harold Fannin Jr. is only £2,600. He has been modest at times during his rookie campaign but he is potentially going to have a higher-scoring matchup against the Detroit Lions this week. That is the same Lions team that just allowed Mark Andrews to score 27.1pts on Monday night.
Cheaper? Okay then.
How about Oronde Gadsden, the Los Angeles Chargers 5th-round pick in the 2025 draft? He is priced at £2,200 so is a massive enabler for your lineups.
In Week 3, he popped up with seven targets for five receptions and 46 yards. The Chargers will not always need to throw it so much but he might be worth a flier at least.
Finally, Josh Tonges (£2,200) continues to be priced incredibly low. He has touchdown upside as Kittle’s apparent replacement and will have Brock Purdy back this week to get him the ball.
My Sunday Stars lineup
In the stack we trust – but this time, we are going to LA.
Captain – Michael Pittman (£5,000)
QB – Daniel Jones (£7,200)
RB – Quinshon Judkins (£4,800)
RB – Bucky Irving (£7,200)
WR – Puka Nacua (£8,000),
WR – Luke McCaffrey (£2,200)
WR – Darnell Mooney (£3,400)
TE – Josh Tonges (£2,200)
We have a lot riding on the stack being profitable and then the rest of the supporting cast hitting paydirt. There are plenty of differentials against other lineups in there too.
I cannot believe I am pinning this week on the shoulders of Danny Dimes… now I know what Phil was talking about!
