Who saw this start coming?

OK, so the Colts have started this season 3-0. Let us have a quick show of hands.

Who predicted that before the season started? Anybody? Anyone at all?

No. Okay, well, truthfully, neither did I. But here we are.

The Colts are 3-0 after dispatching divisional rivals, the Tennessee Titans, 40-21 in a bit of a one-sided game. This continued their unbelievably good start to the year.

Surprising team

It has been quite the turnaround for the Indianapolis Colts, after many predicted they may struggle this year.

Personally, I did not think the team was anywhere near as bad as people were saying prior to the start of the year. Many Colts fans knew this roster was better than most expected.

That said, there is still a long way to go though this year, and we must not get carried away.

Back to the Tennessee game. It was another really good performance from the offense and, in particular, Daniel Jones. He continues to play at a level that many thought he was not capable of.

He had another great day: 18-of-25 for 228 yards, one touchdown and no turnovers, which is probably the most important stat of all.

The great thing about this Indianapolis team at the moment is they have been good to watch. The offense really is fun.

Through three games, they are joint second for points scored. Only pre-season Super Bowl contenders the Baltimore Ravens have scored more points than the Colts’ 103.

Daniel Jones has taken advantage of the arsenal of weapons around him. He has been moving the ball about with Michael Pittman Jr., Alec Pierce and Josh Downs all getting a good share of receptions.

Rookie tight end Tyler Warren has also taken to the NFL like a duck to water.

Best running back in the league?

It has been incredible stuff from the offense so far. But special mention has to be reserved for Jonathan Taylor.

I have to ask the question now: is there a running back playing at a more elite level right now? He leads the league in rushing yards with 338 through three games.

I sometimes feel that, although he is one of the best backs in the league, he may be slightly underestimated.

He had another incredible stat line this weekend, going for 102 yards with three touchdowns at an average of six yards per carry.

He was also named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for a second week in a row.

On top of that, he also won Good Morning Football‘s ‘Angry Runs’… the awards keep coming.

Heading for Hollywood

Next up for the Indianapolis Colts is a trip west to take on one of the NFC superpowers, the Los Angeles Rams.

This will be a tough game, especially after the Rams lost to the Eagles in bizarre fashion last week.

Make no mistake about it, the Rams will be favourites in this one. But what a great test for this Indianapolis team.

Can they keep their momentum going? At 9:05pm on Sunday, we are going to find out.
