Like many NFL fans, I cannot wait for the season to begin!
The offseason seems never-ending; although Kansas City Chiefs fans – at least this one – have been revelling in the sudden abundance of Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift photos and videos!
The A-list couple seemed loved up at the recent Tight End University event. Although everyone has been cooing over Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen and Hailee Steinfeld’s wedding – didn’t they look sensational? – I for one am glad to welcome back the King and Queen of Kansas City for next season’s irrational haters!
Things have not been all that peachy for Chiefs fans, however.
There I was, back in mid June, eagerly scrolling through the NFL x Soccer crossover jersey collection.
The Miami Dolphins have got a good one. The Green Bay Packers one is nice. I quite like the Chicago Bears jersey.
However… what in the Jackson Pollock is that Chiefs jersey?
What on Earth have we done to deserve this?
The Chiefs jersey looks like it was created by Teletext!
For our American friends – and anyone under 30 – even if I explained that reference, you still would not know what I was talking about!
How is it possible to go so wrong with the colours red and gold?
Is it a magic eye puzzle? Abstract? Surrealist? Cubist? Pointillist?
As a huge fan of Chiefs swag, even I am not tempted to part with my cash over this one – and I have Chiefs slippers!
I do not know who signed off on this. Clearly Erin Andrews has not cast her fashion-focused eyes over the latest Fanatics offering.
Lack of appealing Chiefs merchandise aside, I really am looking forward to welcoming back the excitement of the NFL.
It is a shame we have not had any 1:20am kick-offs during the last couple of weeks, since no one in the UK can sleep at the moment anyway!
The thought of Autumn leaves, snuggly blankets and midnight cups of tea, let alone snow games, seems a million miles away.
However my Dad’s Virgin box has already prompted him to set the Christmas Day games to record, so I guess we are headed in the right direction.
