The Kansas City Chiefs routed the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday afternoon in Arrowhead.
The Chiefs came out best in the battle of the ‘1-2’ teams on Sunday.
Here are the key talking points off the back of the dominant win.
Xavier Worthy’s return
Chiefs second year wide receiver Xavier Worthy helped add a whole different element to the Chiefs offense.
Four weeks on after a scary collision with Travis Kelce after just three offensive snaps, Worthy lit up this game leading the Chiefs in both rushing and receiving with 122 total yards.
His presence opened up the rest of the Chiefs offense and allowed Patrick Mahomes to spray the the ball around on course to a statement Chiefs victory.
Vintage Patrick Mahomes
Patrick Mahomes threw for four touchdowns passes for the first time since 2023. He completed touchdown passes to four different Chiefs receivers against a Ravens defense decimated by injuries.
Mahomes in the process became the youngest quarterback to throw for 250 passing touchdowns surpassing future Hall of Famer, Aaron Rodgers.
Mahomes continued his excellent chemistry with Tyquan Thornton, connecting for his third touchdown in four games as a Chief. With this win his continued domination of Lamar Jackson and the Ravens jumped to 6-1.
Chiefs defense dominates Lamar
Chiefs defensive co-ordinator Steve Spagnuolo produced another masterclass on Sunday. The Ravens after a dominant opening drive resulting in a Justice Hill touchdown were shutdown.
Spagnuolo’s defense held a team that was averaging 37 points per game to just 20 points.
The Chiefs defense forced two turnovers including an incredible one handed interception for linebacker Leo Chenal – as well as three sacks.
Spagnuolo’s ability to blitz and bring simulated pressures at will rattled and confused Lamar Jackson throughout the game.
A special shout out needs to be given to rookie cornerback Nohl Williams who received a 90.3 overall grade from PFF. Williams despite limited snaps currently leads all cornerbacks in coverage and overall grade with a 92.3 and 93.7 respectably.
The Chiefs are back!
The Chiefs’ win over the Ravens was more than just another notch in the win column – it was a statement performance that showcased their depth, resilience, and championship pedigree.
With Worthy’s explosive return and Rashee Rice waiting in the wings, Mahomes delivered a vintage masterclass, and Spagnuolo’s defense silenced one of the league’s hottest offenses.
Kansas City reminded everyone why they remain the team to beat in the AFC. The Kansas City Chiefs are back.
