Records tumble as Colts start the season 2-0

The Colts follow up last week’s win to begin the year 2-0.

The Indianapolis Colts won an absolute nail-biter on Sunday.

It took a twice-taken field goal to win the game for them. It was one of the most bizarre endings I have seen in a long time.

It was a very hard-fought victory against a fantastic Denver Broncos side, with the Colts winning the game 29-28.

The last-minute field goal came after kicker Spencer Shrader initially missed from 60 yards. However, a penalty given against the Broncos for ‘leverage’ meant that the Colts got a 15-yard penalty and a redo.

This time, Shrader was able to convert from 45 yards, winning the game as time expired. He has yet to miss a field goal this year.

An unbelievable finish and not good for somebody who had to be up for work at 6:30, as the game did not finish till 12.15am.

And let me tell you, my adrenaline was pumping after that! Sleep was not easy.

Records keep coming

I have long since given up my personal dreams of being able to become a professional sportsman.

In recent years, one job that has always intrigued me would be a third-choice goalkeeper for a Premier League team.

The reason: you get all the trappings of being a professional player, but it is unlikely you have to get on the pitch very often. Even my creaky knees might be able to cope with that!

Now, a new job has come into my mind now, along those lines… being the punter for the Indianapolis Colts.

For the first time in the Super Bowl era, the Colts are the first team to not punt the ball away in their first two games.

Just another remarkable stat on what has been an unbelievably good start to the season, as the Colts moved to 2-0 for the first time since 2009.

Stand-out performances

The team has played at a high level through the first two weeks. There are a number of individuals who deserve praise here. However, there are a few I want to highlight below.

Jonathan Taylor had his redemption game against the Denver Broncos.

Last year, he infamously dropped the ball going over the goal line, in a road game in Denver. This led to a touchdown being reviewed, and ultimately not counting. But on Sunday, he came back with an absolute barnstormer of a game.

He racked up 165 yards overall, at an average of 6.6. This included some big gains to move the sticks, with one particular carry for 68 yards. He really is playing at an elite level.

The Daniel Jones redemption arc is gathering motion too, as he had another great game, going for 316 passing yards.

And as for Tyler Warren, the Colts look like they have drafted a player who has been playing in the league for a decade, not just two games.

Great vibes

The vibes around Indianapolis are just fantastic at the moment.

Talking of vibes, the dancing safety himself, Cam Bynum, came up with another interception. That is two in two for him.

And we got to see another fantastic celebration dance to boot. Go check that out if you have yet to see it, because it really is fantastic.

So the Colts start 2-0 and have a divisional road game this weekend against Cam Ward’s Tennessee Titans.

Could the Colts go 3-0?
