Schedule leaks deny feelings of spontaneity

Who is coming to London?

London Game schedule release day used to be one of the highlights of the year in the NFL calendar, but schedule leaks have sucked a great deal of fun and anticipation out of the exercise.

Much like the exit poll on election night, the leaks could be wrong but invariably are not.

Fans of teams whose name has not been mentioned to this point are left praying for miracles.

Sure enough, when the subdued announcement was made on GMFB, the leaks were confirmed.

Devoid of the fanfare of recent years, the story slotted in behind a riveting interview with an old lady who recently sat next to Travis Hunter on an aeroplane – I am not making this up.

Browns back to London

This year’s teams feature a number of London stalwarts, with perhaps the Cleveland Browns being the one name that ’32 Club’ hopefuls will be looking to check off their list.

The Browns last visited in 2017, when they played the Minnesota Vikings at Twickenham. In a strange twist of fate, the Vikings are also this year’s opponent.

The Vikings always seem to entertain in the capital, and the team with double JJs will no doubt be a big draw once again.

The added intrigue of the Browns quarterback saga should ensure Ticketmaster servers come to a grinding halt on fastest finger first day.

Broncos-Jets to do battle

The ‘2 Jags’ naysayers will be happy, as the Jacksonville Jaguars only appear once on the 2025 London Schedule. Their spot as the second scheduled away team at Tottenham has been taken by the Denver Broncos.

The Broncos will face off against the New York Jets in a matchup that appears, at first glance, to be the dictionary definition of a ‘London Game’.

There are certain teams that evoke images and memories of dour low scoring battles, and these two teams fit the bill precisely.

That may be unkind to this year’s Broncos, who made the playoffs last season and are a vastly upgraded outfit to the Wembley ‘22 version.

Hollywood Rams face Jags

If you look up the dictionary definition of ‘High Octane Offense’, you will find the LA Rams, and they are being sent to Wembley for the first time since 2019 to face the Jacksonville Jaguars of London England.

The Jags are in danger of being a massive draw for neutral fans this year, with the prospect of seeing duel threat Travis Hunter in the flesh.

McVay-Stafford-Nakua-Adams line up in opposition like Hollywood stars on a movie poster. If I had to pick one game to attend this would be the one. And it probably will be the one given the 20,000 additional tickets on sale at Wembley.

Anybody got any spares?
