Time for another top five!

Here at HuddleUK, we are counting down the days until the 2025 NFL Draft.

Today, we continue to go through our top five lists.

Here we look at the top five wide receivers that your team needs to draft.

#1 – Tetairoa McMillian – Arizona – 6’5″, 212lbs

This wide receiver class might not be the most exciting compared to previous years but there are some exciting talents.

None more so than Tetairoa McMillian. The big bodied physical receiver is a great contested catches beast who will cause every cornerback a problem.

He has an insane catch radius and extraordinarily strong, reliable hands. His ability to create yards after the catch is not to be under-estimated as well.

McMillian does have some concerns as he does struggle with contact during his route running and had a few drops in 2024. However, he really is a unique talent that has the potential to be a star in the NFL.

It would be shocking if he were not a top 20 pick, and he could go as high as four to the New England Patriots.

McMillian feels like a mixture of Bucs receiver Mike Evans and Falcons receiver Drake London. He has the contested catch ability of Evans but also the yards after the catch (YAC) ability of Drake London. Expect massive things.

#2 – Luther Burden – Missouri – 5’11″, 208lbs

The pre-draft process has been an odd one for Luther Burden. He has slipped down draft boards and not had much hype out of the combine either. However, he is still a very exciting prospect who is a good all round athlete. He has a multi-sports background, and it shows in his game.

He has good speed and burst which helps him separate well and then he has the YAC ability to really expose defences.

His route running is precise and has decent contact balance to go with it. He does not have many weaknesses, but he could improve his blocking and not give up on routes when he does not initially get the ball.

Overall, Burden is an exciting prospect who could be an extremely high wide receiver two for a team. He was initially thought of as a first-round pick, but he is dropping to the second round now.

A wide receiver needy team like the Cleveland Browns or Patriots would make sense, early on day two. A high-end comparison would be D.J. Moore but Kadarius Toney might be more accurate.

#3 – Emeka Egbuka – Ohio State – 6’1″, 205lbs

We have another quality wide receiver here that should be a first-round pick in Emeka Egbuka. He is the most polished route runner in the draft and will eat in the slot for any NFL team. He possesses great acceleration and agility which means he is superb at creating separation.

Not only that but he also has exceptionally reliable hands and controls his speed well to find gaps.

Egbuka does have concerns as he does not possess high end speed or strength. His catch radius is not as great as other prospects, and he will not run long routes.

A good comparison for Egbuka is a more polished and consistent Jakobi Meyers.

As said previously he should be a first-round pick, but he could fall to the top of the second. Any team looking for a slot guy will love him and a team like the Titans or Jaguars would make sense.

#4 – Matthew Golden – Texas – 6’0″, 195lbs

If there is anyone who received a bump up the draft board from the NFL Combine, then it was Matthew Golden.

Running a 4.29s 40-yard dash suddenly saw Golden become a first-round pick in a lot of analysts mock drafts, but it feels like a massive overreaction. Golden is not the strongest receiver and just needs to refine most of his game.

He obviously has great acceleration and speed due to his track background in college. Golden is versatile and can play in all receiving positions. He also has decent size and movement to create separation.

He will go in the first round, but the talent is not a first-round pick. A team will fall in love with the speed he showed in the combine, and he could go early.

A good comparison for him is Green Bay Packers wide receiver, Romeo Doubs, but with a bit more speed.

#5 – Jayden Higgins – Iowa State – 6’4″, 210lbs

Many other people will not have Higgins as their fifth best wide receiver, but he truly has some untapped potential and could be special.

Higgins is a big bodied receiver who has great footwork and changes direction very well. He uses his size well to beat any defender and possesses a great catch radius.

He does have some issues that he needs to improve. Higgins struggles to separate and is more of a contested catch winner. His yard after the catch needs to improve and he does not have much long speed.

A good comparison for him would be a poor man’s Mike Evans, who will go up and win the ball in the Red Zone. He should be going in the second round, but he may drop to the third if a suitable team does not appear for him early.
